Back-to-school information

This important video is from Superintendent Noreen Bush. Please take a few minutes to absorb the heartfelt back-to-school message.

Truman students in physical education will exercise their mind and body by having fun and doing their personal best.

My name is Lisa Shaver and I’m in my fourth year as Truman/Grant Wood Physical Education teacher.  I have 25 years teaching experience with the majority of those years being spent at the elementary level.

The physical concepts Truman Elementary emphasize in Physical Education are part of the Cedar Rapids District’s physical education standards.  Many of the activities are based on the Physical Essentials curriculum that all Cedar Rapids elementary schools follow.  I also draw from SPARK (Sports, Play and Active Recreation for Kids) curriculum that is aligned with National Standards.

My mission statement is the students in my physical education class work hard for the good of our bodies, our heart, and our muscles.  We love to learn, be challenged, and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

Please help your child remain safe in P.E. by wearing gym appropriate shoes.  They must cover the entire foot.  We do a lot of fun activities and safety is always a top priority.  Visitors are always welcomed.
