5 Lifelong Guidelines
The Lifelong Guidelines are five simple rules for how we conduct ourselves at Truman. They are: Active Listening, Personal Best, Put Ups-No Put Downs, Truthfulness and Trustworthiness. These rules for living are posted in the cafeteria and various places around the building. We had a kick-off assembly on September 2nd introducing the Lifelong Guidelines, featuring Music with Mrs. Lehman and Mrs. Hall with a visit from Daisy the clown. A role play was included for handling problems with other students.
This is the Four Steps strategy.
When someone is bothering you---
1. Tell the person to STOP
2. Say, "If you don't stop, I'm going to have to tell the teacher."
3. Raise your hand, or begin walking toward the teacher. (This action can often make the person say they will stop bothering you.)
4. Tell the teacher (Also let the teacher know that you have already tried using the four steps with this person.)
