Truman students in grades 2-5 will be taking the Iowa Assessments standardized tests starting April 2-April 16. Please schedule family vacations, doctor’s appointments etc. outside of these dates if possible.
The Cedar Rapids Community School District will be hosting a Kindergarten registration and Preschool sign up at the Educational Leadership and Support Center located at 2500 Edgewood Road NW, on March 7th from 7AM to 7PM.
The Virtual Backpack allows flyers to be submitted, approved or denied, and placed on the school websites electronically. It will give parents easy and convenient access to their school’s flyers. The posted flyers must be a pdf file and must be related to school activities. Once the form is submitted, (on the public side), it must be approved by the District before it will show up on the website. Flyers will be approved according to the District Policy Regulation 1004.2

Truman Elementary is one of 21 elementary schools in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. It is located in a northwest residential area called Cedar Hills. Truman first opened its doors to students in 1961. It currently has two sections each of K, 1, 2, 3, 4, and three sections of 5th grade. Truman also has four sections of Special Education. Truman presently serves 307 students.
The Truman community will work together to accomplish its mission of promoting student growth and responsible citizens by using quality data tools.
